S2 Physiotherapy FAQ
Welcome to S2 Physiotherapy! We understand that you might have some questions before booking an appointment. Here are some frequently asked questions to help you get started.
Frequently asked questions
Pretty much anything that affects how you move or how you feel in your body. We see people with back pain, neck issues, headaches, shoulder problems, sports injuries, joint pain, arthritis, sciatica, nerve issues, and plenty of post-op stuff — knees, hips, shoulders, you name it. We also treat more complex things like stroke rehab, Parkinson’s, MS, and chronic pain that’s been hanging around for years. Sometimes people don’t even have a diagnosis yet — and that’s fine too. We’ll figure it out together.
You’ll sit down with one of our physios and have a chat about what’s going on. Then we’ll assess what’s happening — how you’re moving, what’s restricted, what hurts — and we’ll explain it without the jargon. From there, we start treatment. Could be manual therapy, rehab exercises, maybe dry needling if it’s right for you. You’ll walk out knowing what’s going on and what the next steps are.
Then you’re exactly the kind of person who needs to see us. Chronic pain is tough. It’s frustrating. And no, it’s not “just in your head.” We’ve worked with people who’ve had pain for 5, 10, even 20 years. You don’t need a miracle cure — you need someone who listens, knows what to look for, and gives you a plan that actually respects where you’re at. One step at a time. We’re here for that.
The first thing you should do is inform your employer as soon as you can about the injury and the date it happened. You should also ask your employer for the name of their insurance company which they must provide. If they do not or cannot give you the name, you can contact the Independent Review office (IRO) (https://www.iro.nsw.gov.au/)(https://www.iro.nsw.gov.au/). Once all that’s been done, you'll get a claim number. With the claim number you can start seeing us for physio straight away (first 8 sessions are pre-approved).
We’ve been practising workers comp physio for years at our Box Hill and our other NSW clinics, so we know the process inside-out. We’ll communicate with your GP and insurance case manager to make sure everything runs smoothly and help you get back to work safely.

Yes, it’s a bit different when putting in a claim but after that it’s all the same. Car accidents are covered by CTP (Compulsory Third Party) insurance. To safeguard your income benefits, you must report your injury to the police within 28 days. After that, go visit your GP to get a Certificate of Fitness (We have GPs at our Myhealth Box Hill medical centre who do CTP and Workcover claims too, so you can come and see one of ours!). For more information, visit https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-for-personal-injury-benefits-motor-vehicle-accident (https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-for-personal-injury-benefits-motor-vehicle-accident)and you can lodge your claim online.
Once you get a claim number you can come see us for physio as the first 2 sessions are pre-approved (we can always apply for more if needed). We deal with CTP insurers on a daily basis at S2 Physiotherapy. The physiotherapy coverage is there, regardless of whether you were at fault or not.
No. You can come as a private patient.
If you're on workers compensation, you don't need a referral either. Treatment can commence and we can directly contact your insurer under the SIRA guidelines. In CTP claims, your GP typically refers you but we can start treatment in those initial stages.
What matters is that we are SIRA-approved providers who are familiar with the Clinical Framework. Fewer papers to fill, less time wasted, more treatment. That is how S2 Physiotherapy handles workers comp and CTP cases. We are the specialists in NSW compensation physiotherapy in Box Hill.
Workers compensation will usually allow a maximum of 8 physiotherapy sessions initially. Need more? We provide an Allied Health Treatment Request (AHTR) demonstrating why continued treatment is beneficial and why it will put you back to work safely. In CTP claims, the first 2 physiotherapy sessions are pre-approved and more can be requested from our end.
Your compensation benefits in most cases will be up to 52 weeks.
100%. We see plenty of people who don’t even go to the gym. You don’t need to be an athlete to want to feel better in your body. Maybe your job’s physical. Maybe you sit at a desk 9 hours a day. Maybe you’re a new mum. Maybe you’re just tired of waking up sore. Whatever the case — physio is for you if something doesn’t feel right and you’re ready to do something about it.
You can keep booking in with the same physio each time if they're the right fit for you - unless you ask to change for whatever reason, we’ll try to stick with you the whole way through. That being said, all our physios are equally well trained and even if you switch between physios, you'll be in good hands.
Absolutely. This is one of the biggest things we do. Knee replacements, ACLs, rotator cuffs, spinal surgery — we’ve seen it all. Post-op rehab isn’t just about exercises. It’s about knowing how hard to push and when to hold back. We’ll guide you through each phase and adjust as your body responds. You don’t rush recovery. You do it right. That’s what we’re here for.
Our main clinic is on 4 Terry Road, Box hill, located inside the MyHealth Medical Centre.
We work out of other clinics in North Kellyville, Hurstville, Punchbowl, and Ingleburn too, but they aren't connected to our online bookings yet. If you would like to book at one of these clinics, please email admin@sports2physio.com (mailto:admin@sports2physio.com)or shoot us a message on the contact form at the bottom of the page.
