SIRA Guidelines & NSW Compensation
Expert SIRA-Approved Care at S2 Physiotherapy
At S2 Physiotherapy, we focus on workers' compensation and the CTP motor accident physiotherapy compensation under the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) framework. We provide evidence-based care at our clinics in Box Hill, North Kellyville, Punchbowl, Hurstville, and Ingleburn to get you back to work, life, and activities safely and with long-lasting outcomes.
Why SIRA Matters for Your Recovery
Regulated Quality & Safety
SIRA approval implies the meeting of your physiotherapist with high clinical expertise, documentation, and outcome measure standards. Your care is subject to regular audits of treatment methods and billing accuracy so that it complies with the highest standards in NSW.
Evidence-Based Clinical Framework.
The SIRA Clinical Framework changes the manner in which physiotherapy is provided. All our treatment sessions and exercise plans, and all our goals, are connected with some measurable results: pain scales, movement examinations, work-capacity tests, etc., and nothing is left to guess. This accuracy accelerates your healing and gives you more power with insurance companies.
Efficient Claims and Paperwork.
Insurance papers are gruesome when you are already in pain. All of your Certificate of Capacity/Fitness forms, Allied Health Treatment Requests (AHTRs), progress reports, and billing are handled by our committed SIRA team. You work on improving, and we do the administration.
Drive on Function and Return-to-Work.
We design your treatment plans based on your job requirements: is it desk work, manual lifting, and/or vehicle operation? Then we regain the specific amount of strength, flexibility, and endurance that you require. We collaborate with your employer, insurer, and GP to develop safe return-to-work programs that eliminate re-injury.
Patient Education/Self-management.
Actual recovery is to have a self-belief in your body. We show you practical self-management techniques, movement breaks, ergonomic modifications, and specific exercises so that you continue to make progress long after you leave the treatment premises. That is SIRA's vision: transforming injured workers into active participants in their recovery.
How Workers' Compensation Physio Works in NSW
1. Submitting a claim
Report your injury to your employer as soon as you can. The claim must be submitted by your employer to their claims service provider (CSP) within 48 hours.
Claim Number: You will be provided with a claim number, which is all you need to start physiotherapy treatment with us.
2. Medical Documentation
Certificate of Capacity: This form is filled in by your GP describing your injury, work restrictions at this time, and recommended treatment.
Functional Details: This is assessed by your GP & physio to include lifting limits, sitting & standing tolerance, driving ability, and other physical capacities to protect your body at work when you return after an injury.
3. Initial Treatment Phase
First 8 Sessions: There is an automatic approval of eight physiotherapy sessions, which is approved by the insurers when it comes to musculoskeletal injuries.
Full-body Testing: At S2 Physiotherapy, we will conduct a postural test, movement test, strength test, and functional capacity assessment to develop your own unique program.
4. Ongoing Care & Treatment Requests
Tracking of Progress: Since treatment depends on outcome measures, we apply validated results, pain ratings, functional questionnaires, and strength markers.
AHTR Process: In case you require more sessions, we file an Allied Health Treatment Request that includes your progress data, functional goals, and return-to-work milestones. The time taken by the insurers to respond is 7-14 days.
Adaptive Planning: We would change the level of treatment and approaches depending on your answer, but within the evidence-based recommendations of SIRA.
CTP Motor Accident Physiotherapy Explained
Critical Timing Requirements
28-Day Window: You have 28 days to submit your CTP claim to obtain day-one income protection.
Delayed Documentation: Within three months of the accident, complete documentation can be done.
Certificate of Fitness: your GP will provide this document in which you are described as physically and psychologically injured due to the crash
Clinical & Insurance Coordination
Early Intervention: Early initiation of physiotherapy in the immediate aftermath of a motor vehicle accident decreases long-term risk of pain and disability.
Direct Insurer Liaison: CTPs are in direct contact with insurance teams and make sure that your treatment is in line with the SIRA motor accident guidelines and payments.
Recovery-Focused Treatment
Job-Specific Rehabilitation: If you drive at work or sit in an office, we train the exact movements you require, steering positioning, long-term sitting, and vehicle entrance/exit skills.
Trauma-Informed Approach: Trauma can have a negative impact on the mind and the body. We combine relaxation and exposure exercises with gradual exposure to treat pain-anxiety cycles.
Our SIRA-Approved Treatment Approach
Comprehensive Initial Assessment
Postural & Movement Analysis: Detailed evaluation of how you walk, sit, lift, and move to identify problem areas
Strength & Flexibility Testing: Precise measurements of muscle function and joint range to guide your exercise program
Workplace Assessment: Understanding your job demands so treatment directly addresses your work requirements.
Evidence-Based Treatment Plans
